Thursday, September 5th, 2024

9am - 10:30am PT / 12:00pm - 1:30pm ET

Discussion Group Overview

Register today for our September Discussion Group as we explore the business opportunities available for brands facing ESG challenges, and examine a proven partnership that has satisfied the U.S. energy needs of a global biopharmaceutical company. On Thursday, September 5th, join Vanguard Renewables Founder and Member of the Board of Directors John Hanselman alongside Andy Wirths, SVP of Supply Americas at AstraZeneca as they dive into the strategy and operation behind one of the largest business-to-business renewable natural gas (RNG) purchases in the North American voluntary market.
In this 90-minute virtual forum, we'll dive into:

  • The emerging needs of the energy sector, and why “electrification” alone is inadequate
  • Corporate ESG barriers that need out-of-the-box thinking with scalable and regenerative solutions
  • What absolute commitment to a renewable future, despite the financial cost, actually looks like
  • Proven tactics brands can apply to engage within a partnership and support achieving their environmental and social goals
  • What experts are forecasting around the future of collaborative projects and B2B partnerships

Take part in this Member-led open forum to ask questions, share experiences and gain new understanding, tools, and insights.

What are Discussion groups?
SB Member Discussion Groups offer an opportunity to reflect and gain knowledge on sustainable business transformation.

  • Each virtual Discussion Group offers a dedicated focus on learning, exploration, and problem-solving related to a topic that is material to the network members.
  • Each gathering is typically 90 minutes, and participants can stay connected via the private Members Only LinkedIn group between sessions, allowing them to deepen their collective focus on specific areas of interest within a smaller, dedicated group of peers.
  • We will convene five Discussion Groups in 2024:
    • February: Governance
    • April: Purpose
    • June: Products and Services
    • September: Operations and Supply Chains
    • November: Brand Influence

To encourage cross-functional attendance and inclusive engagement from SB Members across the network, we invite your brand to an unlimited number of seats for any of our Discussion Groups.

What are the Discussion Group Objectives?
Our goal is to use the Discussion Group format to:

  • Learn from and with each other, in the community;
  • Generate insights and inspire action;
  • Explore current issues and challenges as well as system-wide opportunities for innovative and sustainable action; and
  • Plant the seeds for larger-scale collaboration opportunities.

We encourage you to invite additional colleagues from other parts of your organization whenever there might be interest - there is no longer any limit on how many participants may attend a Discussion Group from any one Member company.  Depending on the topic, we may touch on issues related to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, communications and marketing, innovation and research & development, community or stakeholder engagement, employee or human resource groups, procurement, or philanthropy. We want to create an opportunity to network and problem-solve, using the power of the Member network
