Discussion Group Overview

As consumer awareness elevates demand for more environmentally friendly plastic products, Brands look to innovate beyond sustainability into Circular design and packaging. Nearly 40% of SB Members determined that an in-depth exploration of Circularity was a key opportunity to move their respective Brands, and collective efforts, forward.

In this second Member-led Discussion since it’s launch in March, Brands from the SB network will reconvene to dive deeper into the evolving world of Circularity, and begin envisioning actionable pathways to shared challenges. This pertinent topic is relevant across industries, throughout the supply chain and integral to the evolving value chain of products and packaging. Almost half of Discussion Group Members are incorporating material reuse in their source reduction strategies, and more than half rely on recyclable end-of-life solutions to make their CPG cyclical. In addition to peer expert blueprints, framework and practices, participating Members will deepen their understanding through collaborative Breakout Sessions and tangible takeaways.

The Discussion will be led by Co-Chair Farrell Calabrese, Strategic Initiatives Manager, Sustainability at Eastman, and Co-Chair Lindsay Vignoles, ESG Director at Rodan + Fields. They will be supported by Discussion Group Secretary Tamsin Ettefagh, Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of Industry at PureCycle Technologies.  With their respective expertise, applicable experiences in Member organizations and collective leadership, they will curate a protected forum for collaboration and solution-oriented activities.

This discussion group is specifically for SB Corporate Members and select SB Affiliate Members who are invited to participate. It allows for a deeper dive into specific environmental and social impacts associated with single-use materials / design for products and packaging – especially those that involve plastic – and how to move toward solutions that support a circular economy. We encourage members who are responsible for product development, packaging engineering or procurement, product sustainability or circular design to join this discussion group, along with any others who are interested in the topic.
