Discussion Group Overview:

Discussion Groups, which complement larger Member Meetings during the year, enable you to dig into a specialized subject area with a smaller group of peers on a regular basis.

The Science Based Targets Discussion Group is back - this time, to set baselines and benchmarks for SBTs straight! In December, Estee Lauder Corporation presented their cross-brand strategy to tackle Scope 3 emissions throughout their global supply operations, committing to reduce 95 percent of their company-wide emissions from raw materials to end-of-life products. This Member-led dialogue explored evidence-driven milestones, renewable resources incorporated across the business, and internal frameworks to push targeted goals forward.

In the second iteration of this Discussion Group, Members will consider the role Purpose has in determining, and setting, corporate sustainability targets across their value chain.

Attendees will:

  • Identify Values-driven Science Based Targets Across Industries

  • Discover How Estee Lauder Company launched Sustainability Commitments

  • Determine Ways to Activate Organizational Supporting Structures to Achieve SBT

  • Share Best Practices to Communicate Commitments and Brand Affinity

This discussion will be led by Group Chairs Al Iannuzzi, Vice President of Sustainability, Estee Lauder, Chair and TBD. They will be supported by Discussion Group Secretary Sheffield Goodrich, Senior Manager of Sustainability, EY. With their respective expertise, applicable experiences in Member organizations and collective leadership, they will curate a protected forum for collaboration and solution-oriented activities.

Who Should Attend:

This Discussion Group is specifically for SB Corporate Members and select SB Affiliate Members who are invited to participate. Through this discussion, Members have the unique opportunity to critically consider, ideate and develop actions for ESG challenges facing brands around the world.  As a critical component of any comprehensive ESG strategy, this Discussion Group is designed for Members who are responsible for CSR, DEI, stakeholder relations, communications & marketing, data mining, impact strategies, and innovative social solutions at scale. We encourage those across the value chain to attend and participate in each of our Discussion Groups.
