What is recycling and why does it matter? Recycling, for many consumers, is the iconic sustainable behavior. But, if you've read the headlines, recycling is in trouble. The good news is that big brands and companies are partnering up to fix it.

The Recycling Partnership (TRP) works across the country to bring recycling to those that don't have it and improve it for those that do. This webinar will overview the national recycling landscape – highlighting challenges and opportunities for Americans that don't have the same level of access to recycling as they do to trash. The webinar will also show the hard work that is happening around the country to clean up contamination in the recycling system and how TRP is working with hundreds of communities to capture more, better recyclables across the country.

As Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) creates a beverage company of the future, their combined size and scale provides a significant opportunity—and responsibility—to preserve and protect the environment and give back to society in the local and global communities they have offices, operations, suppliers, and consumers. During the webinar, KDP will share how insights from the recycling landscape have informed their partnerships, design for recyclability process, consumer education and product launch planning.

About The Speakers

Beth Schmitt

Beth Schmitt - Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships, The Recycling Partnership
Beth brings over 30 years of diverse industry background and expertise to The Partnership. She served as Alcoa’s director of North American Recycling programs, Global Manager of Sustainability, and Manager of Packaging Innovation. As a former board member of the Southeast Recycling Development Council and chair of the Curbside Value Partnership board, she oversaw the development of The Recycling Partnership model. Perhaps the only thing she is more passionate about than recycling are the Tennessee Volunteers; you can find Beth and her family singing Rocky Top at their home in Knoxville.

Scott Mouw

Scott Mouw - Senior Director of Strategy and Research, The Recycling Partnership
Passionate about taking a systems approach, Scott enjoys putting recycling data to work to help community programs thrive. Prior to joining The Partnership, Scott spent a career directing North Carolina’s highly regarded recycling program. He has participated in a wide range of regional and national initiatives to advance recycling, including overseeing the development of The Recycling Partnership while serving on board of the Southeast Recycling Development Council and working with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the Association of Plastics Recyclers, the Glass Recycling Coalition, and AMERIPEN. Scott and his family call Raleigh, NC home.

Monique Oxender

Monique Oxender - Chief Sustainability Officer, Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP)
As the Chief Sustainability Officer at Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP), a leading producer and distributer of hot and cold beverages, Monique Oxender leads the company’s efforts to deliver on positive impact in our world. Monique joined Keurig in 2012 and has navigated a path for integrated sustainability management. This journey travels directly through the intersection of world benefit and business value, informed by meaningful internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining the company, Monique worked for Ford Motor Company where she designed and developed a leading supply chain sustainability program spanning the company's $65B buy from 60 countries. Issues under her responsibility included human rights, indirect carbon and water footprints, and raw material transparency. In addition, she served as Chair of multiple industry workgroups for the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and represented Ford on United Nations Global Compact, US State Department, Department of Labor and OECD advisory groups.

With a background in secondary education and sustainability, Monique has an MBA and an MS from the University of Michigan.
